UVic’s Indigenous Community Alumni Awards, Goes to OneFeather Founder

On April 13, 2023 UVic (University of Victoria) got ready to host one of their biggest nights of the year. Their annual Distinguished Alumni Awards, taking place at the Hotel Grand Pacific, Victoria. The event celebrates outstanding students within three different categories including: Presidents’ Alumni Awards, Emerging Alumni Awards and Indigenous Community Alumni Awards.

Our OneFeather founder, Lawrence Lewis was honoured with the Indigenous Community Alumni Awards, which recognizes the contributions of alumni to Indigenous communities, that have improved outcomes for Indigenous people and contributed to Truth and Reconciliation.

“The technology we’ve created is about sustainable governance and bringing communities together,” - Lawrence Lewis, a recipient of the University of Victoria’s 2023 Indigenous Community Alumni Award. “This is resilient Nation-building.”

He was hand-picked alongside other amazing Indigenous alumni who also received the award, including Kear Porttris, Métis founder of Porttris Consulting Group, which supports Indigenous initiatives and Squamish First Nation member, Leigh Joseph founder of Sḵwálwen Botanicals, a land-based wellness brand.
