At OneFeather, we believe in supporting the next generation of community leaders.
The OneFeather Community Impact Bursary is an annual opportunity for students and community members from Nations using OneFeather to receive financial support for education or training.
This bursary is here to help you follow your goals and bring your learning back to your community.
Bursary Amounts
Each year, OneFeather provides $5,000 in total funding.
For 2026, we will award:
- One bursary of $2,500
- Two bursaries of $1,250
Who Can Apply?
You are eligible to apply if:
- Your Nation is an active OneFeather customer when you apply
- You are graduating Grade 12, or have already completed Grade 12
- You meet the requirements to enter your post-secondary, continuing education or training program
What You Need to Submit
Your application includes three parts: an essay, a short video, and (optional) letters of support.
1. A Short Essay (300-500 words)
Your essay should introduce you and explain:
- The area of study or training you’re interested in
- Why you are pursuing this education or training
- What you plan to do with it once you complete your program
- Why you need financial support
- How you plan to give back to or support your community in the future
Your essay should also show your community involvement or service.
2. A short video (about 30-60 seconds)
Your video should:
- Introduce who you are
- Share your connection to or experience with OneFeather
- Show family or community support for your submission if possible
3. Optional Letters of Recommendation
You may include letters of recommendation or community support with your essay, if you choose.
How Recipients Are Chosen
A committee of OneFeather staff will review applications and select recipients based on:
- Community impact (past and future)
- Financial need
- Community support

FAQ
Who is this bursary for?
This bursary is for members of Nations who are active OneFeather customers and who are pursuing education or training after high school.
Do I need to be accepted into a program already?
You must be eligible to enter your program. Funds are released once proof of enrolment or an acceptance letter is provided.
What should I write about in my essay?
Share your goals, why you chose your path, why you need support, and how you plan to give back to your community.
How long should the video be?
About 30-60 seconds. Just a short introduction and a bit about your connection to OneFeather.
Will late submissions be accepted?
No. Applications received after April 30, 2026 will not be accepted.
I’m not sure if my Nation is a OneFeather customer — how do I find out?
No problem, please email bursary@onefeather.ca and include the name of your Nation. We will confirm your Nation’s status for you.
Do I need recommendation letters?
No. Letters are optional, but you may include them if you want.
How are winners selected?
A committee of OneFeather Staff reviews applications based on community impact, financial need, and community support.
Will OneFeather share my name publicly if I win?
Yes, recipients agree to have their name and photo shared so we can celebrate their achievement. Parent/guardian consent is required for minors.
How do I receive the bursary?
If you are selected, you will need to provide proof of enrolment or an acceptance letter from your post-secondary school, education, or training program before the bursary funds are released.
