Matthew Unger, a Red River Métis technologist, entrepreneur, and founder of iComply, grew up on a farm in the Red River Valley of southeastern Manitoba. With Plains Cree roots, his journey has led him to the forefront of building secure digital infrastructure for the modern economy.

As CEO of iComply, Matthew leads a globally recognized RegTech (regulatory technology) company focused on privacy-first compliance for financial services. Using technologies like blockchain and AI, iComply helps organizations manage identity verification, anti-money laundering compliance, and secure online transactions across more than 30 countries. At the core of the company’s mission is a simple idea: trust in every transaction.

His work focuses on advancing self-sovereign identity, helping create systems where individuals have control over their own digital identity and personal data.

As he shares in the podcast: “Digital identity, by my definition, is a system where there’s one source of truth—and the individual has sovereignty and control over who has access to it.”

Tune into the full conversation to explore how digital identity, privacy, and Indigenous leadership are shaping the future of trust online.
